Subject: Thank you Thank you Thank you

To everyone on the reunion team,

I want to offer all of you a great big thank you for a job well done. It was a wonderful evening and all of your hard word definitely paid off.

I know it is no easy task to put together an event like this. It was obvious that it involved a great deal of team effort and a lot of hard work.

I, for one, had a wonderful time and applaud all of you for the time and energy that you all put forth over the past year to make this event happen.

Bravo,

Jayne

Just an "in touch" to stay tuned to BHS class of 68'  I guess 'men' who lunch is no good, but maybe there is some medium to provide an outlet of common interest to Ballard's finest gentlemen? Anyone with a suggestion? I know we were all party-crashers back then, and now it's gender-friendly for most get-togethers.....dunno?

Sure does not seem like it has been so long.

I keep in touch with the people I ran around with way back then...such good friends I would not have wished to be separated from them for so long. They have helped me keep my feet on the ground all these years.

We grew up in such an extraordinary time! I feel so blessed that it was so.

Although I had a family obligation, a happy one, and missed the reunion I thought of you all.

Perhaps I'll be there for the 45th.

Hello all, and thanks for the great turnout. Mo and I had a "hoop-te-doo" of an evening. It was so great to see the wrinkly faces and various plastic parts. Sad to hear of the ones who aren't with us, and my heart goes out to their families. I really am hoping for a 45, and 50 year get-together, and all the best to "Beavers" everywhere!!

Hi...just finished emailing many of the grads on this site re registration forms for the Reunion...September 20th will be here before we know it!
I have been working as a social worker for the past 30 years...always with children and their families. I have a daughter, Nicole, who just turned 21 in July.
Separated from my husband of 28 years two years ago and now dealing with the details of the divorce....we remain on friendly terms. Started dating a great man in March - "old' people like us can still fall in love! Life is good!

I'm no longer MIA - OK, who snitched? :)

Briefly, I've been married for 27 years to Jack who is originally from Syracuse, NY. I met him while he was attending the UW. We have 3 sons - Mike, 24 (UW/grad school), Dan, 21 (UW 2010) and our middle son, Sam, 22 was born with Down Syndrome and has his first job with pay!

For the last 10 years, I've been involved with greyhound rescue and adoption. I'm the webmaster for Greyhound Pets, Inc. and I do web design from home for other clients so I can continue to be Sam's main care giver.

I was sad to see how many have left us from our graduating class. I've also lost two childhood friends from "the block" - one woman was two years behind us at Ballard HS (Denise Rimsa Kennedy) and the other attended Queen Anne HS.

I probably won't be able to make it to the reunion but thank you so much for inviting me. If anyone remembers me (I was pretty quiet and in the background) please drop me an email.

Cathy, not Catherine  :)

Please be advised that I am not MIA but just cowering in northern-most Ballard. In order to make this thing I will have to find the tape that I used to glue my glasses together, just to be recognized. Regular Life sort of story, Ballard, UW, grad school, taught Geophysics at the UW for 5 years, research in bizarre places, moved to Paris for a few years, then Wash DC. Returned to Seattle upon arrival of baby #1. Instead of shooting myself I decided to build a family, a house and a business at the same time, just so I could prolong the pain.....

Forty years? No!
Quick recap of the past four decades: discovered a passion for journalism in college (Whitman). Grad school at Columbia, then a generally unsatisfying job in TV news in NYC. Returned to Seattle and have spent the past 32 (!) years at the Seattle Times -- mostly writing, a little editing. Feel like I've had 10 different jobs, but all with the same employer. Career has given me a license to be nosy, and occasionally do some good. Three years in D.C. in the late 1980s, a year-long fellowship at Stanford in 1999-2000. Married to Carla, an Episcopal priest. One daughter, Lisa, 29, who gave birth June 27 to my first grandchild, Isabella Grace Edwards. Two stepsons, Kai and Bjorn Berkedal, 19 and 18, one at WWU, the other at PLU. Looking forward to catching up in Sept.

The last time I saw most of you I was wearing a red cap and gown. Fast forward a few years - I moved to Alaska after grad school and lived off the road system for about 25 years.  I’m now in  Anchorage, still working (health care administration) as my daughter finishes at the university. Never got around to getting married. Am healthy - which has allowed me to travel and  have some pretty great adventures.  Had several careers – generally  those that paid the least were the most fun. Travelled the globe.  Work on behalf of the poor. Teach in China when I can.

It’s a strange experiment to twist 400 souls for 10-12 years, separate them for 40 more, then gather us all together and see what happened in between.

I am sorry to know that I'll miss my old friends Joanne Franck, Susan Nelson and all the others who have gone on before us.  They were good people.

It will be great to hear about your adventures and time will be too short in Sept. to hear your stories - write them here  to give me a head start.

What have you been up to?

Dear Classmates,

It seems like only yesterday that we were all roaming the halls of Ballard High School.  We were so fortunate to grow up during the fabulous fifties and sixties.  What memories!  Many thanks to our reunion committee for planning our 40th!

I am a Full-Day Kindergarten teacher in the Kent School District, teaching 21 active 5-6 years olds.  There is never a dull moment but they keep me young at heart.  We have three grown children:  James 26, Jared 24, and Jennifer 22.  Our youngest, Jennifer, is graduating from Seattle U. June 15.

I am looking forward to our reunion and hope that you all can come and take a walk with us down memory lane.  Have a wonderful summer and hope to see you all on September 20th!

Fondly,
Cathy Goodman Hilton

Hi Everyone! Can't believe it has been 40 years - WOW! I am hopeful to make this reunion in Fall. We have lived up on Whidbey Island for almost 18 years and have enjoyed it tremendously. I married Gary who is originally from Milwaukee, WI. and graduated the same year so we had alot in common. We were blessed with having one child, Kyle who is now 21 and he is working with his father in the mortgage business. I actually come quite often to Ballard because my mother who is 91 years young lives at a retirement home in the Greenlake area. Hope to hear from some of YOU!
Cheers, Randi  :)

Just got back from a trip and found the notice about our 40th reunion...40 years! Where did they go?  Sure glad for the advance notice as our national day for "The World's Largest Truck Convoy " is also Sept. 20th!  I guess I'll have to change it's date for Dallas and come to the reunion.  Besides which, We'll have grandchild #7 to see at the same time...he's due Aug 4th.  Looking forward to seeing each and every one of the classmates and catching up on what's been happening in our lives!

Excuse me....there must be an error. It cannot possibly have been forty years....why, I still hear Simon and Garfunkle and the Doors on the radio. And who the heck is that man with the salt and pepper gray hair who keeps stopping by my house calling me "Mom"? Sometimes he is surrounded by little girls who call me Grammy. What's going on here? Get me my meds.....or perhaps a scotch.

It's very hard to believe that 40 years have passed since graduation.  I have been to each reunion and plan on being there for this one and every one we have.  I look forward to seeing who I remember. The mind is the first to go and sometimes I feel it's gone....... If you know what I mean.  We live in Arlington now and rarely get to Ballard. It will be nice to go early and do a little reminiscing. See you in September.

I'll definitely be there at the Elks to catch up with and be trippin' down memory lane with whoever I recognize ... please have name tags ... so we recognize the bald (and the beautiful) and the blondes (daze of our grays?) LOL!
